The Standen commission gets underway
We are launching the first phase of our project with the National Trust’s Arts and Crafts house, Standen as part of their contemporary arts programme ‘A Radical View’.
Peter Thwaites and Rebecca Aird of Rapture & Wright, have been commissioned to create Standen inspired designs, developing new fabrics and wallpapers that will be installed in the house during September 2017.
We will create a series of artworks that take inspiration from the day-to-day life of the Beale family, Philip Webb’s architectural design, and the radical philosophies of the Arts & Crafts movement.
As a follower of Rapture & Wright, we would like you to participate in the design process. We will be posting a series of images on Instagram @standencollection, these will include Arts & Crafts treasures from the house at Standen, and snapshots of the stunning garden and surrounding woodlands.
Simply ‘like’ your favourite images that we post, and we will use your feedback as part of the design process.
If you are visiting Standen, you can post to Instagram using #standencollection to bring to our attention your favourite details that we may have missed.
For regular updates, please follow us on Instagram @standencollection or via the news section of our website.
